On a scale of 1-10 how dirty is your house right now? Do you feel like you could use a little help in the house cleaning department? Well, why not use a housekeeper? No, I don’t mean hire a housekeeper (not everyone can afford that). What I mean is, why not use a housekeeper’s knowledge and tricks to to teach you how to clean your house like a pro and get your home in tip top shape in no time!
How to Clean Your House Like a Pro
Here are a couple of my favorite housekeeping tricks to get your house looking great quickly:
Create a Cleaning Caddy
When you are on a roll getting housework accomplished, there is nothing more frustrating than searching high and low for a cleaning product or having to continually leave the room that you are working in in order to grab a different item. If you create a cleaning caddy filled with all of your cleaning tools and products, you can take it with you from room to room. This ensures that you have all of the items that you need with you and you won’t have to pause your project to search for a different cleaning tool.
I prefer a caddy such as like this white, divided ultra caddy from Sterilite. The roominess allows me to carry everything I need easily around the house and up and down the stairs. It is also sturdy and will last a long time.
Use Multi-Use Products and Tools
When filling your cleaning caddy, make sure you fill it with multi-use products and tools. My favorite products include all purpose floor cleaners that are safe for all hard floor surfaces, a disinfecting glass & surface cleaner and a bathroom cleaner. My favorite multi-purpose tools that I keep on hand include several microfiber cleaning cloths, sponges, a toothbrush and a duster.

Have a Plan
Your housekeeping efforts will be more successful if you set out a plan on how you are going to do it. Many of us get sidetracked by other projects that need our attention and will jump from one job to the next without fully accomplishing one. Determine which room you are going to start on and start there. Don’t move on to the next job before you finish that one.
Clean from the Top Down
Once you have your tools and products chosen, you are ready to clean! Once you begin though, be sure that you are not creating more of a mess. I find that cleaning from the top down is a good rule to follow to be sure that everything is getting cleaned properly! Think about it, if you scrub the floors and then wipe down the counters, chances are you will be knocking stuff down onto the floors that you already cleaned. Same goes for dusting too! Make sure you start at the top and work your way down to maximize your cleaning efforts.
